Missed your Jammin' Java show. Wondering if you will be playing out again. After last year, you seemed to disappear. DC is a tough place to do music. Are you still in the area?

Hi Xyra,
Just to follow up on my previous message... since you knew Billy B. did you also know Teddy well? He hung with a guy named Jack O'Connor. I don't want to make public why I'm trying to locate him but feel free to shoot me an email and I can let you know why personally. Thank you! |

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone on here knows a Jack O'Connor who was freinds with Teddy Speleos. I think Jack was a drummer. It's very important that I find Jack. Thank you. |

Hello Xyra! Glad you are still active in... musical art. Music should be art but sometimes is a BUSINESS PROPOSITION. Nice, healing sounds were your forte. Look forward to more.

Hello Xyra, I came across your site while searching for my old friends from Holy Moses. I enjoyed visiting your site and remember you from Woodstock; pleased to see you doing so many good things with your music . I was playing banjo around Bearsville with the Greenbriar Boys, and in a little roots music trio that sometimes got together for fun at Sled Hill with Rick Danko (fiddle) and Levon Helm (mandolin). Teddy, Billy, Chris, Marty, and David were my pals and I would hang around that Ohayo house and pick. Those were very special times for an 18 yr old kid from Virginia! Would really like to say hello to Billy and Teddy if you can connect the emails. Thanks and wishing for best energy for your future projects.

(message continued)...drinking buddies. I really miss Rick and Richard. You'll be happy to know that Teddy is well and lives in Virginia. If you'd like to contact him, just send me an email and I'll get you an address. You can still purchase the "Holy Moses" Album/CD through Barnes & Nobel on line; it's roots Rock & Roll with pioneering Country Rock beats from the Mystical Mountains of Woodstock and the streets of Greenwich Village circa the 60's. All the best to you and yours XYRA. Billy Batson & Holy Moses xoxo

Dear XYRA. I remember you well from the early days of Woodstock and your stay at my house. I read your web page with some fascination since you mentioned me and my "brother", Teddy Speleos. I'd like to correct a few "mistakes" that appear that probably are really only meaningful to me and Teddy. First, my name is not "Baxton", it's/was Billy "Batson". Next, there never was a Billy Baxton Band. I was the leader, lead singer, keyboardist, guitarist and the author of the songs of the band, "Holy Moses", the original "Holy Moses" Teddy Speleos was the lead guitar player and vocalist. Other members included; David Vittek, guitar, fiddle and vocals, Marty David, base guitar and saxophone and Christopher Parker, Drums and Tuba. We were managed by Michael Jefferies who also managed Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, The Animals and others. It was Michael who gave Teddy Jimi's guitar...and some clothing, I might add, that looked ridiculous on Ted as he was a very short guy and Jimi was quite tall. None the less, Teddy wore them with pride. Teddy was 19 then and was being touted as the most fantastic guitar player around! Michael Jefferies was one of the original "Mavericks" in the music business, having his own studio, Electric Lady Studios, which he owned and designed with Jimi. After recording our LP at Electric Lady, Michael got us signed with RCA Records. We were writing and recording our album at the same time that Dylan and The Band were creating "Big Pink" and the "Basement Tapes". That's the way we did it back then in the mountains. It was all "home spun". Holy Moses first lived together on Ohayo Mountain Road in Woodstock, just down the road from Dylan. Because Dylan and I both had little children the same age, we use to meet at the Parent/Teachers School Meetings! Aside from my band members, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel of The Band were my best friends and drinking

As they say these days, "Props to you!" Way to expand your own voice, literally. After the support-other-musicians days in D.C. I have done a lot of poetry, some music, & some poetry-music-performance. Most of the musicians from bi that day don't even ask - funny, huh? But I am fairly known in the poetry world. Nicely worked out site, Xyra.

This is an interesting site. Especially good are the artwork layout and music. Unsure about the beings under the earth, but the site has a good vibe. Best of luck with your music!
