Jeff Spencer's sensitivity, enthusiasm and expertise bring an unprecedented skill set to the ever-evolving XYRA project.
Born in Ohio and educated in Ohio and Washington DC, Jeff began music at an early age. Exhibiting a genius for singing and playing, from church choir to his first band, he was unstoppable!
Jeff joined his first rock band at age 14. After graduating high school one year early, he various bands invited him to perform and tour across the US, living briefly New York. During his time in NYC, he became an integral part of Bleeker Street Music Scene.
Possessing a remarkable gift for collaboration, Jeff also composed and fashioned many songs for himself.
Performing various genres on lead electric and acoustic guitar, Jeff is also a consummate bass player. Albeit Jeff taught bass at Music Arts, he focuses mostly on guitar for composition purposes.
Besides his own material, Jeff has supported various local artists. These include well-known female blues singers, sundry pop and rock bands and, most recently - Xyra.
Recording with the XYRA band, Jeff added lead guitar tracks to their 2005 CD, 'Through the Dark Glass Shining'. In October 2005, he added bass and arrangement talents to a Procol Harum tune the group recorded for tribute compilation being released in the UK before Christmas.
Currently, Jeff puts his degree in Computer Science to work in the IT field, incorporating his knowledge into programmable music workstations and recording.
